Marietta Theatre Company (MTC) encourages and embraces participation from cast, crew, volunteers, and patrons of diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, abilities, and ages.
WHEN
- Open Auditions: Saturday, February 7, 10am – 5pm with your choice of one required, 45-minute dance call at 10am or 4pm
- Required Dance Call:
- You may come to either Dance Call, irrespective of your audition slot timing. Dance Call participation is REQUIRED for casting consideration

- Virtual Submissions due no later than Wednesday, February 4 at 11:45pm
- Please do not send a virtual submission if you can attend Open Auditions
- No dance component is required for virtual submissions; if called back, you may be asked to dance during callbacks
- If submitting virtually, you MUST be available for in-person callbacks (if invited)

WHAT TO DO/PREPARE
- Please prepare a cut of your preferred song in the style of the show, avoiding songs from 9 TO 5
- Musical theatre selections are preferred, but any song in the style of the show (not from the show) is acceptable
- Song should not exceed 60 seconds in length
- Please provide a digital backing track for your audition, downloaded before you arrive. MTC will provide multiple interfaces to plug in your track on your personal device
- A capella is not accepted
- Accompaniment will not be provided
- Collect your headshot and resume, digitally, for uploading on the audition sign-up page (printed copies are not needed)

- Performances: Wednesday, May 27 (Friends & Family Night Performance – 8pm); Thursday, May 28 (8pm); Friday, May 29 (8pm); Saturday, May 30 (2pm & 8pm); Sunday, May 31 (2pm); Thursday, June 4 (8pm); Friday, June 5 (8pm); Saturday, June 6 (2pm & 8pm).

All cast members will receive a $400 stipend and should be vaccinated against COVID-19, when possible.
Casting Information
MTC encourages auditions from any background or age and urges you not to be literal about the character descriptions. All roles are available. Some roles may be doubled. Character breakdowns provided by Music Theatre International.
Violet Newstead – Female, 40 – 50
The company’s Head Secretary and Mr. Hart’s Administrative Assistant, she is a single mother and typically stands up for what she believes in. Attractive, strong, ambitious.
Doralee Rhodes – Female, 20 – 30
A young, sexy spitfire who works at Mr. Hart’s office. She is proof that there is more to a woman than just her looks.
Judy Bernly – Female, 30 – 35
The “new” girl at the firm, she has been burned by her husband’s affair and is searching for personal empowerment. Insecure, determined, and hopeful.
Fraklin Hart – Male, 45 – 50
One of the firm’s executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is capable of faking charm but usually shows his true colors as an arrogant, self-absorbed boss.
Roz Keith – Female, 35 – 45
The attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has an unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval.
Joe – Male, 25 – 35
A handsome, young office accountant. Genuine and nice, and smitten with Violet.
Dwayne – Male, 25 – 35
Doralee’s attractive husband. He is very supportive of her professional pursuits.
Josh – Male, 15 – 18
Violet’s awkward teenage son.
Missy Hart – Female, 20 – 30
Franklin Hart’s wife, clueless to her husband’s true nature.
Maria – Female, 20 – 30
A young and vibrant secretary in Hart’s office.
Dick – Male, 35 – 45
Judy’s soon-to-be ex-husband. An average guy, he is sporting a little less hair and a little more paunch than he did ten years ago.
Kathy – Female, 30 – 40
A secretary in Hart’s office with a tendency to gossip.
Margaret – Female, 30 – 40
A secretary in Hart’s office with a tendency to drink.
Tinsworthy – Male, 50 – 65
Franklin Hart’s boss and Chairman of the Board. A good man who may be wiser to Hart’s ways than he lets on.
